Funds for our scholarships are generated through school and regional fundraising activities, endowments and memorials, as well as donations from businesses, alumni, and other sources.

Jonathan Crane Roop Memorial Scholarship
QCSA is honored to share the establishment of the Jonathan Crane Roop Memorial Scholarship, to be awarded to a student this June. Created in 2026 by Jonathan’s family and friends, this scholarship honors the life of Dr. Jonathan Crane Roop, a Queensbury native and QHS Class of 1991 graduate who excelled academically and was deeply involved in swimming, football, basketball, tennis, band, and many school activities. Known for his humor, warmth, and genuine friendship, Jonathan carried these qualities into adulthood, earning degrees from the University of Vermont and the University of Connecticut and spending more than 20 years as a board-certified Internal Medicine physician caring for adults with complex medical needs. A lover of 1970s rock and roll, animals, and the outdoors, Jonathan found joy in nature and music. Though he passed away in 2025, his compassionate spirit lives on through this scholarship, which will honor a student who reflects his passion, kindness, and care for others.
Jeff Aurelia Memorial Scholarship
We are honored to share that the Jeff Aurelia Memorial Scholarship will now be administered by the Queensbury Community Scholarship Association and presented at our June awards ceremony. Since Jeff’s passing in 2009, the Aurelia family has faithfully awarded this scholarship in his memory, honoring Jeff Aurelia, a devoted father, son, husband, friend, teacher, and coach in the Queensbury School District. Jeff served as an English Language Arts teacher at Queensbury Middle School and as a football coach within the Queensbury Athletic Department. He was deeply respected by colleagues and students alike, known for his passion, integrity, and his ability to connect with students, especially those who needed someone to believe in them most. His classroom and his team were places of encouragement, growth, and belonging. We are sincerely grateful to the Aurelia family for entrusting QCSA with the continued stewardship of this meaningful scholarship. It is a privilege to help carry forward Jeff’s legacy by recognizing students who reflect the values he lived by: compassion, perseverance, dedication, and a genuine commitment to others.
